AERO.LABS: It's all about those nifty flying electrons.

 PITTS SPECIAL

Wingspan: 28.5"
Flying weight: ~10oz

If you want to fly the Pitts Special, you can purchase the short kit at http://www.parkscalemodels.com/

The design was spawned directly from 3-views that were scale as far as I know, so it might be 99% scale... but I don't care a lot about scale...  I just want something resembling a Pitts Special to fly around.

My aim was to create something that is semi scale, and hits the GWS IPS/LPS power range, making real slow parkflying a possibility. I want it to be a real floater. It goes without saying that anything powerable with an LPS drive would really ROCK with a CD-ROM motor or any small brushless!

This model is immediately compatable with these power systems:
GWS IPS (Indoor power system)
Anything with GWS IPS-based mounting
Brushless CD-ROM motors with 8mm mounting shafts

CustomCRD brushless motor

The constructions consists of 1/16th and 1/32 balsa, using 1/32 wherever possible for weight savings. The struts are 1/16th ply, and the tail surfaces are built of a framework of 3/32" balsa stock. I plan on flying it with lipolys, nothing larger than an Etec 1200, you'll notice the battery deck is wayyy up front, above the motor.
The cowl will be help on with tiny neodymium magnets. The windshield will be vac-formed over a precision laser-cut balsa frame.

Here's the stats of the first version:
Wing area: 267.9 sq in
AUW: 10oz
CustomCDR brushless motor with 8x4 GWS HD prop
Airfoil: flat-bottomed
Control: A,E,T,R.
Ailerons: 4, full-span
